According to JI spokesman, Mr. Ahmed had been ill for several months.
He was born on June 26, 1927 in Barely, British India and earned Masters Degree in Commerce from Lucknow University in 1948.
Mr. Ahmed later completed a course in Industrial Accounts and won the fellowship, of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan.
He became the member of Jamaat-e-Islami in 1950 and held key positions. He served as General Secretary of two political alliances of UDA (United Democratic Alliance) and PNA (Pakistan National Alliance) respectively.
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minster Raja Pervez Ashraf, Pakistan Muslim Laegue-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali, JI chief Munawar Hassan and Qazi Hussain Ahmed also expressed grief on the demise of the senior politician.
