ISLAMABAD – Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday termed PPP leader Nabeel Gabol’s statement as contempt of parliament.
While addressing the National Assembly today, Gabol appealed to the Army Chief to play his role to maintain peace in Karachi.
On the other hand, leader of the opposition Syed Khurshid Shah told House that Chaudhry Nisar gave one month ultimatum to the Sindh government to improve law and order situation in Karachi.
The Interior Minister shouldn’t have expressed these remarks, Shah said.
Responding to Khurshid Shah’s remarks‚ Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan clarified that he has no authority to give ultimatums to the provincial governments.
He said indiscriminate action will be taken if the Federal Interior Minister given a chance to maintain law and order situation in Karachi.
He assured that the federal government will extend all possible support to the provincial governments to resolve the issue of law and order. He said these issues cannot be addressed through point scoring but consultation.
The Minister said that he will visit Karachi and Peshawar shortly to consult with the provincial governments to improve law and order.
Chaudhary Nisar said he will also consult the Sindh Governor to find a solution to the situation in Karachi.
