news54sf54fs452v Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband has now advised Muslims against donning of wigs while offering prayers. Issuing a fatwa, the seminary said that the namaz is “incomplete” if one is wearing wig or artificial beard.
Narrating details, spokesperson of the seminary, Ashraf Usmani, said that ‘vazu’ (mandatory washing the hands, face and head before namaz) and ‘gusl’ (cleaning of the entire body) are the two religious requisites.
“But, the wig impedes the water from reaching the scalp. This defeats the purpose of ‘vazu’ and ‘gusl’ as the body remains impure,” he said.
