Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Syed Khurshid Shah has on Monday said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif was retiring in a graceful manner. He said that Raheel Sharif’s tenure in army chief’s office was historical.
Shah said that General Raheel Sharif had faced a lot of challenges during his era. “Raheel Sharif had already stated that he wouldn’t get any extension. He is one of the few army chiefs in our history who remained uncontroversial”, said he.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stalwart suggested the government to appoint the senior most generals as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff and Chief of Army Staff. He said that such promotions would urge the other senior officers to perform even better.
