‘We go to sleep on empty stomach’: BSF jawan posts video of food served on duty

A BSF jawan, deployed along the Indo-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir, has alleged that troops are served bad quality food and even have to manage with an “empty stomach” sometimes, prompting the border guarding force to initiate an inquiry.

Home minister Rajnath Singh later tweeted on Monday night saying he had seen the video and that he has sought a report from the BSF to take “appropriate action”.

In videos uploaded on Facebook, the jawan claimed that while government procures essentials for them, the higher-ups and officers “sell it off” in an “illegal” manner in the market.

In four different videos released online, constable Tej Bahadur Yadav of BSF’s 29th battalion talks about the kind of conditions soldiers work under and also goes on to show the kind of food that is allegedly being served.
