Losing the Lords test at Lords by 75 runs and after facing a lot of criticism the hosts bounce back with an excellent display in the second test and put Pakistan far away from the victory in just 2 days and the only thing visitor can do is to go for a draw which is looking a very difficult task for them. First demolishing a very good bowling attack and then ripping up their strong batting line up Hosts have showed who they really are and what they are capable of in their home.
England after winning the toss decided to bat first and used the situation quite well. Captain led his side from the front and scored a glorious Hundred and a 250 from the young middle order batsmen Joe Root entirely took England on top. On a perfect batting conditions Root played with excellence and innovation. Fifties from Chris Woakes and Jonny Bairstow abetted Root to get pass his highest score and at the end they declared their innings at 589-8. Wahab Riaz was the one who didn’t bowl very well but still managed to get 3 wickets whereas Amir and Rahat both took 2 wickets. Pakistani fielders gave chances to the English batsmen as they were very fragile in their fielding and dropped many important catches at crucial times. There was nothing much in the pitch but the uneven bounce was a big factor that was showing that the pitch will eventually come into favor of bowlers and will be challenging to bat on 4th or 5th day.
Pakistani batsmen had to survive less than a session but they lost 4 wickets in less than 25 overs and ended at 57-4 on the completion of the second day. Instead of trusting on their batting Pakistani fans are much relying on external factors like Rain to save the 3rd day because there is chance of Rain and that can play a decisive role in this match. Pakistan still have their skipper on the crease and with Asad Shafiq still to come they just need to persist as much as they can. This is the only way to draw the match and remain overhead in the series because winning this test match is now almost impossible from here. Opener batsmen Shan Masood has done an excellent Job and played very prudently. Muhammad Hafeez, Azhar Ali and Younis Khan all remained totally flop in the series so far and remain unable to find a way to tackle England bowler. In bowling there is only one man show so far and its Chris Woakes who has made this Pakistani batting line up a club level type batting. Now for the 3rd day Pakistan needs to come with a proper plan to tackle Woakes and others. There is a big chance and it surely can play a crucial role in this match.
